While, unfortunately, we’re unable to go out and enjoy the best of what the market has to offer, the amazing vendors of Tel Aviv’s Carmel, Levinsky, Hatikva and Jaffa neighborhoods have stepped up their game to make sure the best products are still available, delivered safely to your doorstep. Read here for options for produce and large grocery orders, farm fresh delivery services or how to order restaurant delivery in Tel Aviv.
Here are some of Delicious Israel’s favorite businesses and eateries delivering at this time:
HUMMUS: Shlomo and Doron
If you’re anything like us, you can’t go more than a few days without a fix of creamy Israeli hummus. Luckily, there is a hummusiya on pretty much every block in Israel - but they’re not all like Shlomo and Doron. This Yemenite Quarter institution is famous for innovative takes on hummus like hummus-shakshuka or Mexican hummus - things we now can’t live without. They’re taking delivery orders via Whatsapp, accessible on their Facebook. Make sure to tell Elad we sent you! Please note they are only open through mid-afternoon.
DELI FOOD: Yom Tov Delicatessen
One of our favorite places in the Levinsky Market (or anywhere in the world, really), Yom Tov Delicatessen supplies Tel Aviv foodies and restaurants with some of the most incredible imported cheeses, olives, Turkish mezze dishes, fish, meat, wine and so much more. While we can’t go visit their teeny-tiny shop during this time, this family business is still going strong. Visit them online or contact Eitan at 0546822020 - make sure to tell him we sent you!
WINE: Mano Vino
This small Tel Aviv chain has developed a reputation among foodies and wine-lovers for knowledgeable sellers, top-quality products from even the smallest of boutique wineries in Israel and around the world, and excellent Israeli spirits and liquors. Restaurants may be closed, but in Tel Aviv, wine is an essential business, and Mano Vino’s same-day (!) deliveries may have already saved quite a few of us from going completely stir-crazy. They also have great deals like 3 wines for 99 NIS. Visit their website (Hebrew only - but Google Translate was made for this!)
or contact them on Whatsapp at 054-474-9600 to place an order.
ICE CREAM: Arte Glideria
Gelato shops are a dime a dozen in Tel Aviv, but no one holds a candle to arte. Our favorite artisanal, all-natural gelato is still available on Wolt, and makes for a fantastic delivery! Almost half of the flavors are vegan and all are gluten-free, except the bread and butter. Summer is around the corner, and we don’t think you need to be outside to deserve ice cream on a hot day. Treat yourself to Arte’s gelato, and let them know Delicious Israel sent you!
MALABI: Hamalabiya
If you’re Tel Aviv, chances are you’re not too far from a branch of HaMalabiya. These wonderful small eateries sell a Turkish dessert called malabi, made of a cornstarch-thickened pudding, topped with rosewater and homemade syrups, and pecans, coconut and cookies. Trust us, it’s sure to satisfy your sweet tooth and comes at the right price of only 10 NIS per malabi. While you can’t sit and play a game of shesh-besh while enjoying your malabi, some of their branches are offering quick and easy delivery via Wolt, meaning you won’t have to leave your couch to eat malabi now. Not bad, right?
AND MANY MORE: WOLT APP (for delivery)
Although we do not have Uber Eats Israel, Deliveroo, or Postmates, if you are looking for a full range of delivery meals, download the Wolt App (use the code DELICIOUS20 to receive a 20 shekel discount off your first order!) to find amazing Thai, Japanese, Mexican, Vegan, and pretty much any other type of delicious food.
We hope you’ll join us in supporting the local Tel Aviv artisans and vendors who make this city come alive with deliciousness by ordering in, and joining us on a Delicious Israel culinary walking tour of one of our amazing markets when life goes back to normal!
