Food Delivery in Tel Aviv

Whether you’re just not feeling up to braving a cold, rainy Tel Aviv night while on vacation or are missing the comforts of home on study abroad, there’s no reason to feel like you need a reason to order delivery in Tel Aviv! While we’d love to say we truly walk throughout our beautiful markets every day in search of the freshest produce, the truth is that life gets in the way and sometimes a brave delivery driver can be the difference between having sleep for dinner or a hot meal.

Like all good city-dwellers, Israelis love food delivery and you really don’t need an excuse to let someone else do the cooking (and driving!) for you.

With that said, ordering food delivery in Israel is not always a simple task, particularly for those with limited Hebrew skills. Between websites/apps having Hebrew-only versions, grocery stores being closed on Shabbat, needing an Israeli ID number to complete a credit card transaction or not being able to get through congested restaurant phone lines on busy days, things can get messy.

Team Delicious wants you to never miss a good meal while in Israel - even if it means not leaving your hotel! With our guide to food delivery in Tel Aviv, you’ll be eating from some of Tel Aviv’s best restaurants with the click of a button.

The Winner: Wolt

Aaah: where were we before Wolt walked (well, biked) into our lives?! It’s hard to remember the days (hint: it was in 2019) before this game-changing app made us even less likely to leave the house than ever before. By far, the easiest solution for both tourists, expats and locals is a mobile app called Wolt - our answer to UberEats/Doordash or any other 3rd-party food delivery system. Rather than relying on restaurant in-house delivery drivers who depend on numbers of orders and delivery distances, Wolt drivers/cyclists are independent freelancers who pick and choose orders that make sense for them and the customer. With small added delivery fees, this means restaurants are able to cover much larger delivery areas and bring your food much quicker! It also means restaurants who never used to offer delivery have the ability to do so - game changer!

The entire app is in English (minus a few restaurants who have only uploaded Hebrew menus, but these can be auto-translated as well), meaning a seamless ordering process with room to write clear English delivery instructions, high-quality photos of all the dishes so you can understand exactly what you’re getting, built-in options for customization (no more leaving it to the whims of the ‘notes for the restaurant’ section) and you can track your delivery driver to get a truly accurate idea of where they are! The app allows you to search by what’s closest to you, type of cuisine, or other options such as vegan or Kosher.

Huge numbers of Tel Aviv’s restaurants (anything from falafel or hummus to high-end Asian dining) have joined the Wolt craze, making it truly a win-win for businesses and customers alike.

These are a few of our favorite, consistently-delicious delivery options. Whatever you decide to order, use the special code DELICIOUS20 to get a 20 shekel discount off of your first order!

  • Thai - Nam: top-quality Thai food that always arrives quickly, hot off the wok and absolutely delicious. Portions are generous and delivery is smart, with spill-proof packaging and all the necessary supplies! We love all their dishes, including a grade-A tom yum soup, the green curry and their pad see ew.

  • Pizza - Lila: this hidden gem on a quiet street in the Levinsky Market is not only great for a relaxed night out, but holds its own as one of the best Tel Aviv delivery options. Pizzas have creative toppings (the artichoke is our favorite) and arrive hot and fresh, with a chewy center and crispy crust - just like in Italy.

  • Ice Cream - Arte: our favorite gelato spot just outside the Carmel Market offers the only 100% natural Italian gelato in a city saturated with delicious (if sometimes over-the-top) ice cream options. Arte offers a huge selection of vegan ice creams and fruit sorbets in addition to the rich, classic options like Donna Elena (lemon ricotta), Pistachio and Italian Coffee, all packaged in insulated-containers and with cones on the side to craft your perfect ice cone.

Restaurant Delivery

Tel Aviv also has a large selection of restaurants with their own in-house delivery services who offered deliveries long before Wolt came into the picture. Not all restaurants haveSome restaurants with solid delivery services include Philippe Pizza, Zozobra, Giraffe and Dixie Grill Bar.

Groceries: AM:PM

Sometimes all you need is a carton of eggs, a loaf of bread and some milk to fill in the gaps in your market shopping and get dinner on the table, rather than ordering prepared food. Israeli grocery stores have offered delivery for years already, but websites can be daunting in Hebrew and often involve ordering days in advance, speaking to confused delivery drivers in Hebrew or stores running out of the ingredients you needed.

We highly recommend the grocery delivery service from local chain of convenience stores AM:PM - you can order online or on the easy-to-navigate app, all available in English, and delivered to your doostep within 2 hours! Israeli convenience stores (AM:PM in particular) are just smaller grocery stores, meaning they offer fresh produce, a huge selection of meat and dairy products, and everything under the sun, including cleaning supplies and other household basics.

Other Options

  • Ten Bis: literally Hebrew for ‘give me a bite’, this food delivery app is available in English and primarily caters to workplaces offering subsidized meals to employees through their service . Peep their drivers in orange gear around the city. It is not as user-friendly as Wolt, but can be a good option.

  • Mishloha: delivery website and app offering a decent selection of restaurants, but available only in Hebrew with limited functionality on Google Translate.

Note: Even when there is a restaurant delivery fee, a small tip to your delivery driver is the standard local practice and is highly appreciated, especially when drivers are heading out in slippery and dangerous conditions so you don’t have to - 10% is considered a lovely amount for delivery and can be done via credit card on the Wolt app, or in cash for other deliveries.
